Apr 16, 2018Heavenly home on Wednesday night, March 21, 2018, surrounded by her children. She was born on January 31, 1920, in Glade Hill, Va., to the late Thomas Creed and Effie Lee Bernard Heptinstall. In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin A. Kessler; son, Danny L. Kessler; daughter-in-law, Trudy H. Kessler; her brothers, Carl (Lera) Heptinstall, Otho (Sally) Heptinstall, Allen (Daisy) Heptinstall and George (Avis) Heptinstall; her sisters, Bernice (Garther) Hudson and Antholene (John Tom) Lloyd; infant sister, Virginia Marie Heptinstall; and sister-in-law, Vertie Heptinstall. Helen is survived by her sons, Tommy (Dianne) Kessler, Randy (Susan) Kessler; daughter, Susan K. Gearhart; seven grandchildren, Eric (Vicky) Kessler, Heather K. Landes, Jonathan (Melinda) Kessler, John (Shannon) Gearhart, Emily Gearhart, Jennifer Kessler and Thomas (Devan) Kessler; four great-grandchildren, Ian Kessler, Bayla Kessler, Daniel Kessler and Aiden Kessler; and many nieces and nephews. Our mother was a very special lady to everyone she met. Helen was kind, loving, patient, forgiving and had a strong Christian faith. She was known for her one-liners like, "Pretty is as pretty does." Enjoy your new home Mom. We will see you as soon as we can! Funeral Services will be conducted at noon on Monday, March 26, 2018, at Oakey's Vinton Chapel with the Rev. Chris Monroe officiating. Burial will follow at Franklin memorial Park. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Monday at the funeral home.
